The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field. – Luke 10:2
Every worthwhile vision has its roots in God’s truth. When Church of the Highlands was founded in 2001 there was already a passion for training the future leaders of the Church built into its foundations. Pastor Chris wanted to see a church that was Holy Spirit powered, prayer driven, and capable of being both inviting and transformative. With the verse above from Luke in mind, Highlands sought to contribute workers to the harvest through two different approaches:
First: Through a life-giving church that would reach out to the community, love people where they are, and help them take next steps towards a vibrant relationship with God.
Second: Through an organized, intentional effort to develop the Church leaders of tomorrow.
The first effort resulted in Church of the Highlands, which God is using to make a tremendous eternal impact.
The second is Highlands College, a Biblical higher education institution that exists to supply the Church with leaders to fulfill The Great Commission.
During Church of the Highlands’ very first year, they launched an internship designed to develop ministry leaders called 24/7. After 10 years of growth, practice, and strategic planning, that program completed its transformation into Highlands College.
Today, Highlands College is made up of a thriving group of young men and women who are answering the call to vocational ministry. We provide students with a holistic experience founded on four pillars: academic instruction, hands-on ministry training, character formation, and spiritual development.
Students learn in the classroom just like they would in a more traditional college setting, but what really sets Highlands College apart is their opportunity to learn in the living laboratory that is Church of the Highlands. Students at Highlands College get to partner their academic experience with hands-on ministry training by world-class leaders from day one.
By the time their journey at Highlands College ends, students have learned how to lead healthy, Christ-centered lives built on character and a commitment to excellence. They leave prepared academically and practically to fulfill the calling of God on their lives to make an eternal impact through leadership in the Church.
As students approach graduation, they are prepared to launch careers in ministry with the help of an extensive placement program that connects them with opportunities to serve at churches all over the world.
The Eternal Impact campaign is an effort to support Highlands College in their efforts to educate, equip, and empower students to live lives of eternal impact. That’s been the vision of Highlands College since it’s very beginning.
“It is the biblical mandate,” Pastor Chris Hodges says. “It’s what God asked us to do.”
Every worthwhile vision has its roots in God’s truth.
Thank-you, God, for choosing us.
