As a young college graduate, Tim Johnson’s eyes eagerly scanned the computer screen in front of him. Job searching is no easy task, especially when entering the workforce for the first time. After a few clicks and scrolls, something caught Tim’s eye. ‚ÄúI was searching for a youth pastor or children’s director job when I saw the job posting on myIMPACT‚Äù Tim remembers as he fell across what is about to be his full-time job as a youth pastor at Word of Life Christian Center in Newark, Delaware. ‚ÄúI emailed my resume directly to the church, and the rest was kind of God.‚Äù
How is job searching made easy through Highlands College?
1. Our platform
Job placement is a unique part of the Highlands College experience. Through Highlands College’s connections with churches around the world, pastors and leaders are able to inquire about available graduates for positions at their church. myIMPACT is the primary resource for these connections to take place. This job posting platform is Highlands College’s home for career and placement services. Students “build out” their unique profile that displays their experience, like a visual resume. Pastors can create their own profile and post job positions available at their church. Currently, myIMPACT has over 300 available jobs posted.
2. Our connections
What separates myIMPACT from other job boards is how the platform specifically attracts churches who are searching for the ministry training and character formation Highlands College students receive. It gave Tim peace of mind knowing that churches on myIMPACT were looking for students just like him. “Using myIMPACT connected me to other ARC and Grow churches that are similar to the Highlands model, so it really simplified my job searching list.”
Not only is the platform beneficial for Highlands College graduates, but for church leaders and pastors as well. Word of Life has recently experienced spiritual and numerical growth, so Senior Pastor, Chris Rue, knew he needed a new staff member who was equipped to hit the ground running. That’s why Pastor Chris sent his Assistant Pastor, David Shanosk, searching on myIMPACT for a Highlands College hire. “On our side, it was convenient to have access to certain candidates that may be a good fit for our church” Pastor David recalls as he started the search to fill the youth pastor position. “myIMPACT was very user-friendly. I was able to add our open role to the site with no issues.” What could have been a difficult searching process was made easy through the Highlands College platform.
3. Our mission
Thanks to myIMPACT, Tim will begin his role as a youth pastor at Word of Life in July. The platform is more than a ministry version of LinkedIn or Indeed; it is a practical tool in accomplishing Highland’s College’s mission of “equipping the church with leaders of character to fulfill the Great Commission.” Churches around the world are looking for qualified candidates to supply their staff. If you want to join Tim in making an eternal impact, apply for Highlands College today.
