Highlands College’s Four Pillar Education Model

Academic Instruction

Highlands College students develop their intellect and increase their knowledge of God in an innovative learning environment. Every college course is designed to discuss ideas and unpack essential principles to go beyond knowledge to find wisdom in each topic you study.

Alongside your classmates, you’ll gain an exceptional understanding of your Christ-centered calling as you pursue a college degree as unique as your purpose.

School of Media

Students passionate about leading the local church through service production and creative skillsets discover foundational knowledge, technical skills, and leadership. Pursuing bachelor’s degrees in Technical Arts or Visual Arts educates and equips students to create excellent, dynamic environments for people to encounter God.

Bachelor of Arts in Technical Arts

Technical Arts students are educated and equipped in building teams, creating worship environments, and pastoring people all within the local church. Coursework is designed to help students refine their skills in audio visual production for live church events.

A minimum of 122 hours are necessary to fulfill this degree’s requirements.

Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts

Visual Arts coursework is designed for individuals who are passionate about refining their creative process, storytelling, problem-solving, and leading and developing artists. Students are educated and equipped to be creative ministry leaders serving the church through skilled visual communication—graphic design, motion design, and video production.

A minimum of 120 hours are necessary to fulfill this degree’s requirements.

School of Ministry

Students passionate about being effective ministry practitioners in a specific pastoral area of the church—family, global, pastoral, or student ministry—are intentionally educated and equipped to be leaders in their field of study. Pursuing bachelor’s degrees designed for focused areas of ministry empowers students with the knowledge and skills necessary to lead the local church.

Bachelor of Science in Family Ministry

Students gain practical training in leading the local church by reaching children with truth and empowering parents. Family Ministry coursework focuses on effectively leading families on a journey that develops children spiritually through professional curriculum and pastoral practices.

A minimum of 129 hours are necessary to fulfill this degree’s requirements.

Bachelor of Science in Global Ministry

Students who are passionate about reaching individuals and communities outside of the church walls through local, national, and international efforts are educated and equipped to develop teams and understand and minister to communities with the love of Christ. Global Ministry coursework develops each student in community awareness, team building, administration, and pastoral care practices to effectively fulfill the Great Commission.

A minimum of 129 hours are necessary to fulfill this degree’s requirements.

Bachelor of Science in Pastoral Ministry

Students develop the pastoral heart of a biblically educated ministry leader and are equipped to lead others to take next steps through the local church. Pastoral Ministry coursework equips students to lead in an evangelistic gathering, create environments for people to build authentical relationships to inspire life change, create pathways for people to discover their God-given gifts and abilities, and identify and coach others on how to use their passions to make a difference.

A minimum of 129 hours are necessary to fulfill this degree’s requirements.

Bachelor of Science in Student Ministry

Students are educated and equipped to become healthy, biblically sound, and influential leaders in the student ministry of the local church. Through their coursework and training, students develop a Biblical worldview, develop strategic vision, and explore innovative ministry practices—like student conferences, monthly services, and weekly groups events—to equip the next generation to be connected relationally and spiritually strong.

A minimum of 129 hours are necessary to fulfill this degree’s requirements.

School of Worship

Students passionate about effectively leading worship gain the foundational knowledge, technical skills, and biblical comprehension to minister to others in the local church. Pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Worship allows students to explore a wide range of topics—including music, theology, the history and cultural context of worship, and leadership to equip them for eternal impact.

Bachelor of Arts in Worship Ministry

Students are biblically educated and intentionally equipped to build teams, develop musicians, create worship environments, and pastor people in the local church as full-time ministry practitioners. In addition to developing musical skills, coursework establishes the knowledge and wisdom required to apply Biblical truths to personal disciplines and congregational environments.

A minimum of 129 hours are necessary to fulfill this degree’s requirements.
